Aim

  • Develop students’ understanding of the principles of cancer chemotherapy
  • Enable the practitioner to safely administer cytotoxic chemotherapy
  • Manage the holistic care of the patient requiring chemotherapy ​​​​​​

Target Audience

This module is for:

  • Health and social care professionals who work with people receiving chemotherapy in a clinical or community setting.
  • Practitioners who are not required to administer intravenous chemotherapy but who are responsible for care management

6 days contact over 15 weeks (1 day induction, 1 full week) plus 75 hours clinical practice

  • Pharmacology, side effects and their management
  • Cannulation, administration techniques
  • Holistic assessment and management
  • Ethical issues, accountability, consent
