Aim

  • Develop students’ understanding of the principles of cancer chemotherapy
  • Enable the practitioner to safely administer cytotoxic chemotherapy
  • Manage the holistic care of the patient requiring chemotherapy

Target Audience

This module is for nurses who wish to develop knowledge and expertise in the administration of cytotoxic chemotherapy and the care and management of people receiving chemotherapy. 

Pre-requisites: Current NMC registration; Minimum 1 years’ experience in appropriate health care setting; Phlebotomy and cannulation skills.

  • Induction day: Monday 10 September 2018
  • Theory week: 17-21 September 2018
  • Clinical: 10 days placement
  • Exam: Monday 3 December 2018

6.5 days contact over 15 weeks (1 day induction, 1 full week, 1 hour  exam) plus 10 days placement in clinical practice
